Abstract/Summary:
Adjective is a part of speech, showing shapes of people or things, or the state of action, behavior, development and change. There are some similarities and differences in the adjectives of Zhuang language and Thai language. This paper carries on the discussion and comparation on the classification and grammatical functions of adjectives of Zhuang and Thai by using theories and methods of comparative linguistics theory, descriptive linguistics, and cultural linguistics, and analyzes the causes of their similarities and differences. As the author considers,the cause of two adjectives’ similarities lies in their homologous relation---common origin: Baiyue language in the south of ancient China; the cause of the two adjectives’ differences lie in the different positions and influence by different cultures and languages after their differentiation.This paper is composed of six chapters, as following:Chapter I : introduction. It introduces Zhuang and Thai ethnic and languages.,and the current research on adjectives of Zhuang and thai, and concludes the purpose of this paper and the meaning and the scope and the theoretical research methods.Chapter II defines and analyzes the categories of adjectives of Zhuang and thai.Chapter III is the comparative analysis of adjective syntactic function of Zhuang and Thai, of several special adjective combination features.Chapter IV is the comparative analysis of adjective reduplication of Zhuang and Thai.Chapter V is the reasons for similarities and differences between Zhuang and Thai adjectives.Chapter VI.:Summary. Summarize the main points of this article.
