With the deepening of China’s opening up in various fields and frequent foreign exchanges, international engineering technical cooperation is increasingly enhanced. Technical translation serves as a crucial bridge. Therefore, it is imperative to strengthen studies on translation in technical fields. This report mainly discusses the translation of technical texts based on the translation practice.This report is based on the translation practice of Technical Proposal of the Highway from Manzhouli to Alatanemole. The first part of this report describes the general background of the translation project. The second part details the translation process, including preparation, translating and proofreading. The third part makes case analyses. It mainly talks about using electronic dictionaries to translate terms, making use of cross check to improve the accuracy of the translated texts and referring to parallel texts to get knowledge of background information. The last part is a summary and conclusion of this practice, including characteristics of technical translation, advantages and deficiencies of electronic tools and ways to improve the quality of technical translation. Through cases study and previous translation experience, the report summarizes characteristics of technical text translation and concludes that electronic tools can play a significant role in technical translation, in the hope of providing some references for technical translators.
