This is an English-Chinese translation report for two chapters of A Beautiful Mind. As a biography, it tells the postgraduate life of John Nash, the winner of Nobel Prize in Economic science in 1994, in Princeton. The biography has the characteristic of historicity; therefore our translation must be loyal to the original text. If we lose the historicity in translation, our work will become a fiction and lose its values of reflecting the true history. It is so important to ensure that the historical information is absolutely correct in translation. The report explores the translation principles and strategies in translating the biography, A Beautiful Mind. It is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the source, the contents, and the requirements of the translation task and the structure of this report. The second chapter describes the translation process of the task. In the third chapter, this report focuses on the difficult points of the original text and the translating strategies, particularly the principle to translate the English proper names and to take advantage of parallel texts to improve the quality of the translation. The fourth part makes a summary of the whole translation practice.
