Research On The Spirits Expressed In Portrayal Oil Paintings

Ever since the reformation and expansion to the Tempera painting from which the oil painting was generated put forward by Dutch painter Jan Van Eyck, portrayal oil painting has already existed. The contents of such are more of the depictions of religious topics except for the portraits of individuals and groups. And then people found that the meaning of the painting is represent more than they were supposed to portray themselves. So figure painting divide into two fields gradually:figure is the theme of the painting and the figure just the medium of painting which convey more wider meaning.The spirits and traits in the paintings are various depending on the time of their artists. Accordingly, there are two factors that affect artists in the process of painting:the common traits of the time and the individual trait of the artists themselves when doing the painting. These two factors not only affect the expression of artists’thoughts and spirits, but also the approach of such expression.Contemporarily, portrayal oil paintings as well as the paintings as a whole are becoming the vehicle of the realization of artists’ subjective expression and self-value. Artists are delivering more profound spirit symbols though portraits.Today, human, society and the world has undergone a special change. Sensitive artists at that time and space, they look and feel everything around,In a variety of ways they will their subjective mental into screen.Their manner of expression is varied, the main emotion is also differ in thousands of ways.Affected by the common traits of the time and the individual traits of artists, their approaches vary, their emotions differ.However, the important problem of artists thinking is what kind of expression patterns can be more accurate to express their own spirit.In oil painting,the way of work performance has bearing the spiritual expression,It is also because of spiritual expression,the expression with life.To achieve harmony between form and spirit of main performance is the determined to pursue for every artist.This article mainly focuses on the evolution the connotation of portrayal oil paintings and the expressions of such spiritual connotation of such paintings of different times. Especially, this article analyses the nature of inevitability and contingency of the expressions and the approach of which that can reveal the thoughts and spirits of artists of different times. Through systematic analysis and research, this article explores the profound meanings expressed by artists using portraits as vehicles, and the reasonableness and inevitability of the approaches adopted so as to highlight the spirits of the portraits in the paintings. The purpose of this article is to provide references and examples for people who are doing such painting.
