An Exploration Of Zhuozhuo God Under The View Of The Local Multi-culture Space

Faith was part of cultural term. As the minority areas in the northwest had different multi-ethnics and various cultures with the addition of special regional advantage, which presented kind of folk faith.Zhuozhuo God existed as a kind of distinct folk religion in the multi-culture in Hexi Corridor, which changed along with the transition of local ethnic cultures from origin to formation. It played various cultural backgrounds and presented different function. This paper explained the different ritual activities and symbolic significance of Zhuozhuo God, and outlined the interaction between different ethnic cultures by comparing with the other local Gods, which could be observed as the clue of local socio-cultural history.This paper conducted an investigation about the culture of Zhuozhuo God faith in the Miaoergou Village, Songshan Town, Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County, trying to explore how the characteristic cultures started and formed by talking about the system and form of Zhuozhuo God. Bases on the investigation of rituals, it told us that it’s a positive survival strategies and spiritual motivate rules to influence nature by developing ritual. It also formed a serious of taboos in the process of ritual practice, which reflected the complicated relationship between beings and nature, between beings and Gods.Faith embodied peoples’ heart, and rituals maintained action on a consistent while people deeply believed in kind of symbolic meaning empowered by ritual. Hence the conventional symbolic significance moved in peoples’ heart.About the function of Zhuozhuo God, this paper explained how the Dragon King and God of mountains worked as team, and searched about the other Gods’ power in the near around for serving as a foil to the cultural superiority of Zhuozhuo God. Knowing various aspects of its cultural symbol and structural meanings of Zhuozhuo God is a general interpretation to the relationship between nationality and culture.All in all, Zhuozhuo God culture had been marginalized, but it was a kind of complicated cultural system. According to its component, both of the Dragon King and the God of Mountains are the God of Buddhism and Taosim; it shows the Zhuozhuo God is part of the cultural history in its formation tells; there are various structures and symbolic meanings in the ritual. The contexts are also partly explains the relationship between the national and cultural development, based on its diachronic and synchronic development, Zhuozhuo God has its existence value and meaning.
