A Report On The Translation Of Adult Life Developmental Process(extract)

This report, based on the translation of the fifth chapter of Adult Life Developmental Process, includes the description of the translation task, the translation process, the analyses of difficulties in the translation and the conclusion of the translation task. In the initial stage, the author read the source text carefully in order to gain a deep understanding of the stylistic and syntactic features of it and then made efforts to gather a variety of necessary translation tools for the actual translation task. The analysis of the translation cases chiefly rests on the aspects of vocabulary, syntax and culture and the report ends with a summary of the experience of the translation practice.By translating this source text, the author has greatly improved her translation ability, summarized some useful translation methods and widened her translation insight. Furthermore, this practice may lay a solid foundation for the author to engage in translation in the future.
