There is a great deal of female image data contains in precious T’ang Tomb Wall Painting in Xi’an, which truly mirrored the way female lived in at that time. Studying what women wore in Tang Dynasty by doing research of T’ang Tomb Wall Painting, we can know how Tang Dynasty changed from prosperity to decline by catching the feature and evolution rule of women apparels.on the one hand; and on the other hand, people could get the idea of what kind of social status women were at back then, as well as psychological state, fashion sense, and hobbies. All that mentioned about is going to be demonstrated in following passage. Now please allow me to uncover the secrets for you. There are five parts in this article. First of all, by researching historical document, organizing the data related to T’ang Tomb Wall Painting and women apparels, this essay demonstrates the background, meaning, research status, ideas, and also difficulties and innovations of this subject.Secondly, using Archaeological Typology to study the different features in female apparels, which refers to clothing and hair style, in different types, ways, and time period, and also summarizes the peculiarity and evolution rule of female clothing and hair styles in early Tang, High Tang, Mid-Tang, and late Tang period.Furthermore, based on those rules we can not only extract and purify the characteristics of ladies apparels in Tang Dynasty, but also analyze the background and social causes behind this phenomenon.And finally, this article summarizes how female apparels effected to our nation’s fashion culture, and the giant development and prosperity they brought to us at the same time.
