The Research On The Regional Characteristics Of Hunan Watercolor Painters

Western watercolor painting in China have been undergoing a rapidlydevelopment since the Reform and Opening up of China. Influenced by the traditionand culture of China, a few generations of Chinese watercolor painters aim to createa "Chinese watercolor painting with Chinese characteristics". Hunan’s watercolorpainting achieved and maintains the top level that participates and awards accountfor a significant proportion in Annual Watercolor Painting Exhibition. Colleges anduniversities in Hunan also attach great importance to the gathering of talentpersonnel and the formation of professional teams of watercolor painting, those, wona good reputation for our province’s great power status. Research undertaken by theWatercolor institutions and others has demonstrated three factors in particular standout as the convergence of the tacit understanding of the selection of subject matter,way they express their thinking and aesthetic attitude and aesthetic ideas, as well ascreating a distinctive local characteristics of Hunan watercolor painting. They are:Geographical environment,National personality,Regional culture and education structure in normal universities such as the studentsinherited the similar habits from their tutors, Thus continually motivate the youngpainters to develop watercolor painting in China.The purpose of this thesis is to study the local resources in Hunan and discussand understand the personality presented in the process of development from theperspective of regional feature, which subject to the relationship of regional painters.Through data collection and literation review, this paper was briefly summarized todescribe on the historical background of watercolor painting in Hunan. This articlewill also analyze the manifestation and contributing factors of the regionalcharacterizing, and finally conclude the development direction in the future. In orderto reach the goals, our watercolor painters have to dedicate with their nationalpersonality, characteristics of the times and highlight the regional difference ofHunan watercolor painting, in other words, the more distinctive regionalcharacteristic we obtained, the faster acceleration of Hunan watercolor paintingdeveloping we received. The twenty-first century was a time of rapid globalization for advanced art. Many important innovations also diffused more rapidly, and morewidely, than in earlier times. This inevitably brought Hunan the new challenges andchances in the advanced watercolor painting. Therefore, our artists and painters aresincerely encouraged to motivate themselves in painting innovation, hence maintaina top level in contemporary Chinese watercolor painting.
