As one of the important family-subjected novels in Chinese modern literature history,“Children of the Moneybags”, written by Lu Ling, overemphasized its progressive significanceof anti-feudalism by the critics for a long time. The novel’s profound sense of culturalintrospection, especially its affirmation to the reasonable elements of traditional culture andskeptical critique to didacticism of May Fourth Movement was ignored. According to analyzingthe main character image, this article tries to reveal the cultural connotation inside the contextand revaluate this grand novel in modern literature history.
