| The debate between domestication and foreignization strategies has been going on in thefield of translation theories for many years. Without any unified and objective criteria forselection in practice, translators feel hard to make a choice which strategy is moreappropriate for their translations. This thesis presents different types of definition of twostrategies commonly used in translation practice, discusses the crucial factors which haveto be considered when choosing translating strategies and the reasonable choice. Finally, itis argued that, in addition to domestication and foreignization, there are two more equallyuseful and unavoidable translating strategies, i.e., a middle area and an outside area. |
