Studies On Zhang Qianyi’s Gediao Theory

Jianzhai notes on poetry is Zhang Qianyi’s book. Zhang Qianyi is the scholar of QingDynasty.This works has rich poetic thought, gediao is one of the important thinking. Gediaois an important theoretical categories of Chinese classical literary criticism, the scope of theTheory of gediao is lifted to a considerable level of theory, and then occupy the ancientChinese literary criticism central position in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Thus combingZhang Qianyi’s gediao theory is significant for his contribution to the poetics of the QingDynasty gediao.This paper sums up and analyzes gediao theory of Jianzhai notes on poetry, using thedocument Analysis and comparative research theory. The full text can be divided into thefollowing three parts:The first part explores gediao theory of Jianzhai notes on poetry. On one hand, ZhangQianyi had showed the analysis of the poem written law which contains the word law, syntax,art of composition and institutions to interpret the definition of gediao. On the other hand,Zhang Qianyi had interpreted the definition of gediao about the artistic value, whichcontained the artistic character and a majestic style.The second part explores inheritance of gediao school of Ming Dynasty by Jianzhainotes on poetry. Zhang Qianyi had inherited three aspects of thinking by gediao school ofMing Dynasty, Which contained emphasizing temperament, charm and flexible poetry law tobreak the norms of the style and focus on the pursuit of the Inner Meaning of poetry. Itaverted poetics into mimic the ills of poetic forms.The third part explores development of gediao theory of Jianzhai notes on poetry. On onehand, Zhang Qianyi had enlarged the scope of the old school to attain the aesthetic ideal of therevival of classical poetry by widely mimic the style of the ancients. On the other hand, ZhangQianyi had talked gediao theory on the framework of the Confucian Poetics to transfuse theideological content, giving new impetus to the style poetics.In short, Zhang Qianyi had worked hard to make the theory of gediao fill with richcontent. The theory of gediao was from the path into the form of implication, which wasgradually becoming mature, so he laid the foundation of the early Qing Dynasty gediaopoetics to make poetics of the late Qing Dynasty have depth development so that it gradually became the mainstream of poetry. It was the equally important with other Poetics factions(mainly containing spirit school, charm school and texture faction).
