The author Chen Zhongshi conveyed his thoughts about the national destiny andcultural heritage. This novel narrated about fifty years of historical changes on Weihe Plainfrom the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic period to the early years of the nation. Itshowed repressed rural life in China under the feudal system. There was a group of womenwhose personalities were distinct but endings were tragic in the world of White Deer Plain.They submitted to or struggled to those men who were commanding their fate. All thosepeople constructed a lineage society full of cultural connotation of the traditional family.White Deer Plain, born in the1990s, was widely considered to be one of the mostsignificant works after reflections literature ideological trend. It attracted many commentators’attention by profound and steady style of storytelling, rich cultural connotation and skillfulartistry. This phenomenon lasted for twenty-thirty years which was equal to the popularity of“Dream of Red Mansionsâ€. Mr.Blue Robe was considered as the origin of White Deer Plainbecause it ignited the creative passion of White Deer Plain. The ideology and literatureconcepts were further embodied in White Deer Plain. The paper studied the female tragicview in these works and how to liberate women and improve their cultural status. Itinterpreted women’s tragic fate in the works of Chen Zhongshi from the perspective offeminist criticism, such as Tian Xiaoe, Bai Lin, Tian Fang, Lu Zhaopeng. The paper revealedthe serious lack of human’s subjectivity under the powerful feudal patriarch system and thetraditional Chinese cultures and highlighted the difficulties to move toward independence forwomen in modern China.
