Teenager using addicted substance has great negative effect on both individualsand society. For the individual, using addicted substance could impair some brainfunction, at the same time, it could accompany with risky behavior, which includimpulsive behavior, suicide intention and attempt, and depression. For the society, teenager using addicted substance could cause some social problems e.g. disruptingsocial order and so on. It is necessary and important to prevent from the problem ofaddicted substance use for the teenagers. Exploring the factors which cause theteenagers use addicted substance could help people to know the reasons and find wayto prevent from substance addiction, also, find the effective therapies for it.There are two researches in this thesis. The first research investigates teenagers’using substance circumstances in Guangdong and Hunan province, applying clustersampling to collect1944samples from middle schools which are in Guangzhou,Shenzhen, Foshan, Changsha, and one juvenile prison and one bureau of drug abusecontrol which are in Guangdong province. The investigation uses self-developedquestionnaire which is Teenager Using Substance Investigation Questionnaire as atool. It shows that there are272samples report using substance (including211samples from school and juvenile prison, and61samples from bureau of drug abusecontrol), the epidemiological use rate is11.51%. The investigation suggests thatcigarette and alcohol are the main using substances in teenagers. Ice and ketamine aretwo new-type drugs that a largr number of teenagers are using. The second research uses the272samples that report substance using as a usinggroup, and choose272random samples as non-using group. Making comparisons ofthese two groups helps us find the differences and explore the influencing factors ofsubstance use. This research is designed to explore family, peer influence, and socialimpact and other parts to analyze the influencing factors. Using family informationinvestigation questionnaire, measurement of the family variables, and family conflictscale to investigate family effect, the result shows that parent-child attachment(t=4.101, p<0.001), family cohesion (t=3.670, p<0.001), parental control (t=2.537, p=0.011), family conflict frequencies (F (1,542)=16.186; p<0.001), and familyconflict intense (F (1,542)=27.975; p<0.001) have significant difference betweenusing group and non-using group. By use self-developed peer influencing factorsquestionnaire, it suggests participants contact people (χ2=79.240, p<0.001, df=1),schoolmates (χ2=20.389, p<0.001, df=1), classmates (χ2=32.520, p<0.001, df=1), andbest friend (χ2=45.169, p<0.001, df=1), whether they using substance or not haveobviously difference between the two groups. In the personality part, throughinvestigation by Barrett Impulsiveness Scale2(BIS-II) and Sensation SeekingScale(SSS), the two groups have significant difference in the scores of BIS motorimpulsiveness (t=3.986, p<0.001), non-planning impulsiveness variables (t=4.166,p<0.001) as well as scores of SSS disinhibition variable (t=9.888, p<0.001). In otherinfluencing factors part, the research finds differences in teenager’s objective testperformance (t=2.906, p=0.004), subject test performance (t=6.091, p<0.001), andpeer and teachers identification (t=2.602, p=0.010). Logistic regression analysisresults suggest family, peer, personality have significant influencing effects forGuangdong province teenagers substance using. The results show that family, peer, personality and school performance haveeffected teenagers’ behavior. The intervention work should start from these factors, and help teenagers to build a good family and peer relationship, in the same timefocus on the cultivation of personality. We also should have a correct view of schoolperformance, creating a harmonious atmosphere in school.
