Translation-informative text translation in particular-plays an important role in promoting information exchange and enhancing competitiveness. Hence, it is of significance to use some effective translation countermeasures to produce adequate informative text translation. And the purpose of this report is to summarize some constructive translation methods for informative texts from the author’s translation practice.The report introduces the background of this translation practice relevant to Missouri School of Journalism. The whole process, including pre-translation preparation, translating process and post-translating activities about documents relevant to Missouri School of Journalism, is also elaborated in this report to explore translation problems and propose corresponding countermeasures. Combining theoretical reflections, functionalist translation theories in particular, and practical analyses, the author draws a tentative conclusion about translation strategies for informative texts, such as consultation of dictionaries and search engines, reference to professional literature, application of translation techniques, and target text revision based on the context.
