As deeper and wider globalization spreading worldwide, interpreting which serves as a tool to help people to overcome language, becomes a bridge connecting different cultures and languages. Meanwhile, the rising demand of high-quality interpreting from the society inescapably pushes interpreting industry to undergo a faster growth and development. Also, along with the fast pace of economic development, multi-polarization and cultural diversification, cross-boundary communications becomes flourishing and inevitable. Therefore, interpreters are enjoying a constantly improved position in international affairs, acting as bridges which connect people of different nationality, languages and cultural backgrounds.This report based on the personal experience of two mouths interpreting practice in Provincial Tennis Center of Hunan, serving as a liaison interpreter between foreign coach and Chinese players and officers. Due to the large amount of work, a lot of problems came out during the whole phrase. Therefore, the author in the report rises the majority of the problems occurred in the process of interpreting, combined with relative theories to analyze the causes and tried to find ways to make them through. The author of this report also puts forward some problems unsettled in interpreting to encourage people continuing a deeper research.This report is composed of four chapters. Chapter one is the introduction to the general program, the National Game and the Provincial Tennis Center of Hunan included. The National Game serves as highest level sports game nationwide, which thus is regarded as the biggest target to win some results for all the provincial sports center from the whole country. Also, the game plays an important role in promoting the sports strength, reinforcing exchanges between provinces and regions, creating a good national atmosphere of sports and encouraging all the national citizens joining sports in their daily life. While the employer of the author, Provincial Tennis Center of Hunan, functions as a governmental institutions whose target as what was introduced above is to achieve some championship in the every four year National Games. Thus the role of the author plays as the interpreter both in and off tennis court and an mediator, information gatekeeper and even babysitter of the Czech coach.Chapter two is the introduction of the interpreting course, including the preparation before interpreting, the characteristics of tennis interpreting, multifunction of the interpreter in different occasions and the strategies and tactics the author employed during interpreting. At first, the author comes to the Characteristics of sports interpreting. Because of the specificity of tennis whose court is very large, the interpreter has to adjust her voice into louder volume so that the players could catch every word from the coach. Nevertheless, because the coach will give some impromptu indications to the players when they are practicing, which also puts a higher request on the speed, pitch and tone of the interpreter. Next, before interpreting, the author did a lot of preparation jobs, including expanding glossary in tennis, studying the information about the Czech coach and other seven Chinese players, learning the history and development of tennis and lastly even watching a tennis match with English-speaking narrators. Third, the author states the functions of the interpreter in different occasions. Generally speaking, the author played the role of interpreter, microphone and repeater in tennis court, mediator, interpreter in the meeting room and a babysitter off court. Last, the author sets forth the tactics and strategies she adopted during interpreting---explanation, paraphrasing, simultaneous interpreting, note-taking and naturalization.Chapter three discusses case study and coping tactics. Case study contains interpreter’s subjectivity consciousness, such as the visibility of the interpreter, non-neutrality standpoint of the interpreter, the interpreter’s empowerment consciousness, and quality of the interpreting.Chapter four elaborates some unsolved problems of interpreting. The first problem is the low social status of interpreting and its quality. The second one is the accurate interpreting of paralanguage, which is very important for the good quality of interpreting. The third problem is the interpreter’s inadequate ability, like a slip of tongue, discordant of speed and inaccuracy etc. The forth one is the inadequacy of subjectivity consciousness.
