Ancient Villages Heritage Conservation Research In The Northwest Of Henan Province And The Southeast Of Shanxi Province

China is an ancient civilization which was founded on the basis of agricultural since the ancienttimes.The northwest of Henan province and the southeast of Shanxi province are the important farmingculture areas in Chinese history, so large number of ancient-village heritage left in this region is of greatvalue in history and culture. In recent years, the rapid urbanization in this region,the misunderstanding ofnew rural construction exist in some villages and towns and the over-commercializing exploitation, havepartly threatened the continuation of these ancient-village heritage. For this reason, the study on theprotection of the ancient-village heritage is both theoretically and practically significant.The western countries which was urbanized firstly have realized the great value of the protection ofthe ancient-village heritage,they have built a protection system consists of policy of the law, research teams,the folk force and the concepts of whole protection.Although it is a little late to realize the value of ancientvillage heritage, Chinese govenment have still got excellent achievements in the protection ofancient-village heritage in recent years. These can be reference for the protection work in northwest Henanprovince and southeast Shanxi province.The northwest of Henan province and the southeast of Shanxi province are mountainous region withbasins and flood plains,and the landform there is relatively closed. The folk-custom is hardworking andthrifty,also courtesy.The local inhabitants are engaged in farming and sericulture from ancient times.Allthese above lay a foundation for the continuation of local ancient-village heritage. This area has a wealth ofheritage resources, which consists of ancient villages in the list of state-level, the province-level and also inthe List of Chinese traditional villages.The building structure of the ancient village has a wealth of layouttype and unique space image.The architectural style of the local fortess villages and dwellings are alsodistinctive.The ordinary dwellings are the most pure representative of the ancient-village heritage,whichhas a variety of architectural styles,the unique architectural features and rich cultural connotation. So itshould be the emphasis on the protection of local architecture and ancient-village heritage.The intangible heritage behind the vernacular architecture is the soul of these ancient villages.Protections of the soul can be divided into three aspects. One is worship system, including the worship inancestral hall and temple. The other is the local art, which mainly consists of performing skills and manual skills. The last is the local memory that represented by oral literature.Tourism development is a sustainable and effective way for the heritage protection. By the SWOTanalysis of the local ancient villages’ tourism resources, I proposed some suggestions on the tourismdevelopment. These suggestions include developing more distinctive tourism products, setting up practicebases and internship bases, satisfying the needs of independent tourists, cooperating with other scenic spots,and improving the infrastructure. Besides, I also summarized three principles on ancient villagetourism development.Network information technology is important technical means in modern society, which can play asignificant role in the protection of ancient villages today. We should pay close attention to thedeveloping of the technology, and use both the traditional web portal and the emerging web tools,including the We-Media platform, two-dimension code and the APP client,to make the protection moreeffectively and timely.
