Wu Wenrong(1792—1854),his courtesy name is ZhenFu, self-titled YunChao,was a famous minister in the Qing Dynasty. He was born in Yizheng county ofJiangsu Province. In the24thyear of Jiaqing(Qing Dynasty), he became a Chin-Shih.From then on, he served as studying Hanlin Academician, Educational officer ofHenan province. Fujian provincial governor, Jiangxi provincial governor, Zhejiangprovincial governor, Yungui viceroy and Huguang viceroy. In the4thyear of Xianfeng,Wu Wenrong was chastity-pursuing death in Huangzhou for fighting the Taiping army.For his moral character, Qing government granted a posthumous title, called“WenJie”, and build the Ancestral hall in memory of his loyalty.Given his life story, he did very well as a official in many places.‘Wu Wenjiegong Yi Ji’ was edited by his son Wu Yangyuan, which was written by himself alive.This ‘Yi Gao’ possessed very high research value, no matter for studying the localsociety or character itself.At the first, we need to arrange this literature,then, it starts to study. In this link,I will divide into two parts for discussion.Part One, it was character study, including biography with family background,ruling experience and social network. When written the ‘ruling experience’, Isearched and read lots of materials, and accorded with time sequence. The key point ishighlight what local affairs he need to conduct, and how to deal with them.Part Two, it was historical value study, including the edition of ‘Yi Gao’, theresearch value of ‘Yi Gao’, and the Wu’s treatments about managing the JiangxiProvince. In the study of the second part, I intend to start with these three field. Thereare promote realizing the social of the Jiadao period, riching the character study, andunderstanding the situation of Jiangxi Province in that period. At the last part, I willclassify the literature as6sections, and separate to discuss.
