The Dream Narrative As The Image Of Desire

As one of the fundamental conception, dream, in Freud’s research, is thecore pass towards the inner university of mankind. In his psychoanalyticmethod, the interpretation of dream is the most important and crucialstatic. With the rising of General Narratology, Pro.Zhao Yiheng includesthe dream as a branch of Mind Narratology. Combined the research ofNarratology and psychoanalysis, we believe that, understanding the natureof dream would help us to find the truth of human mind.This paper bases on the theory of general narratology. We compare the Storyand the Discourse of Dream. We conclude that dream is the transformednarrative of human’s inner desire. Inner desire was formed in the earlyage back to the baby period. After we grow up, inner desire became to theplot in our mind. Freud thought inner desire is the component ofunconsciousness and consciousness. Dream is the thinnest part ofunconsciousness. Therefore dream narrative is the narrative of desire.
