The Relationship Between Mind Wandering As A Personal Characteristic And Creativity

Mind wandering, which is commonly called distracted, daydreaming, is a ubiquitous psychological phenomenon that deviation from the current mission and turned to the internal information. The mind wandering in the task usually interfere individual with current task performance, reducing the efficiency. But, as an consciousness experience that occupying50%of the time people awake, mind wandering has a important adaptive function. It can be the bridge of consciousness and unconsciousness, associated with self-awareness and help individuals has a sense of concatenate. And also help individuals enhance their creativity and problem solving skills. Although a lot of research has been proceeded, most of these studies confined to the relationship between mind wandering and creativity, and do not consider the impact of the working memory capacity. Does working memory capacity is a moderator variable between the mind wandering and creativity? Mind wandering has stable individual differences, if mind wander as a personal trait is independent variable between working memory capacity and creativity, whether or not different characteristics of the individual can benefit from wandering? In the present study we focus on the cognitive function of mind wandering in creativity.We explored the function on creativity of mind wandering by two ways, study one concentrate on the relationship between one’s creativity and the frequency of mind wandering, examine whether working memory capacity as the moderator affect the relationship between mind wandering and creativity. The other studies the difference between creativity and different frequency.We got the main research conclusion as follows:1) One’s frequency of Mind wandering was positively correlated with the creativity.2) Mind wandering affect creativity independently.3) Not all of the characteristics of the individual of mind wandering can benefit from the mind wandering.
