The literature of Han Dynasty, dating from pre-Qin Dynasty to Wei and JinDynasties, not only broke new paths in the literary fields such as historical records, Cifu,Yuefu and political comments, but also created a special cultural phenomenon--theliterature of family. Ban Family across the Dong Han Dynasty and Xi Han Dynasty wasfamous for the three outstanding people who had been compiling the Han history, buttheir literary achievements were limited to the literature of history. They also made greatcontributions to poetry, Fu, prose and so on. The former researchers focused only on BanGu. It is rare to study the Ban family members and even the literary work of the wholefamily. So this thesis selects the poetry, Fu and prose of the main family members as theresearch object, trying to examine the common characteristics among the members fromthe cultural interaction of society and family, and using the different style of its membersto reflect the relationship between their life experiences and literary activities. In view ofthe extensive and profound of Han Shu, and many previous studies, this thesis willexclude it from the prose, not regarding it as research contents.The main part of this paper discusses from the following three chapters:The First chapter will briefly describe the significance of the topic and the researchvalue, research history and present situation as well as the research objectives andmethods.The second chapter from the point of the whole family’s poetry, Fu and essays,willdiscuss the common features of family members’creation. Firstly, this thesis will sort outthe basic situation of family members’ literary creation, especially the classification ofprose. Secondly, throughout all the Ban family members’ literary creation, it will analyzethe performance of the same nature from four aspects like Confucianism, Romanticism,imitation and innovation and patriotism. Finally, it will interpret the internal and externalcause of this identity.The third chapter will explain the characteristics of their poetry, Fu and proserespectively from the individual member of the Ban family as the starting point.According to the time sequence, this chapter is divided into five sections: Ban Jieju, thereasonable expression of resentment in palace; Ban Biao, the Confucian injured with theideological and political thought during the troubled times; Ban Gu,the singing and moanof the orthodox literati; Ban Zhao, the praise and indoctrination of a woman teacher inpalace; Ban Chao and Ban Yong, the true feelings of heroes in remote place.
