Research On Services And Arms Of Liao Dynasty’s Army

Liao development known as the "depend on its arms," The wax and wane of LiaoDynasty and the development of its military force are of close concern to each other.Wars ran through the Liao Dynasty history throughout the whole209years, which madeLiao Dynasty be in a war situation at all time from its establishment to its demise by JinDynasty in a manner of speaking. The Liao dominators attached great importance to themilitary construction and consolidation of Liao regime in order to ensure a strongmilitary. In the categories of troops, the Liao military got full absorption of the advantagefrom their opponents while maintaining its inherent national characteristics, and formed aunique Liao constitution, which Liao had a greater impact on Liao military.This paper mainly engages in the study of the evolution of the Liao army troops,military and some other related systems, characteristics. Four parts are divided in Thispaper:the first part introduces the forming process and the mode of solicitation andmanoeuvre of Liao military; the second part presents the constitution and function ofthe Liao military service from the aspects of central imperial guards, local vassal ArmyGarrison and national guards; the third part talks about the classification and the roles ofthe Liao military service from angles of cavalry, infantry and navy, etc.. The fourth isrepresented the features and effects of Liao military.
