| The present study makes an investigation of L2mental lexicon in view of memetics bydiscovering their joint. The purpose of the study is to help L2learners explore effectiveapproaches of reconstructing L2mental lexicon and further make contribution to theirvocabulary learning.As the study on memetics becomes a popular subject, memetics has been used toilluminate and investigate phenomenons and probles in the field of culture, many of whichrefer to cultural transmission, translation and language acquisition. However, studies ofpsychology in the view of memetics are few. Therefore, the present study is inspired by someresearches and to be the first discovering the joint of memetics and psycholinguistcs: theprocess of meme transmission and the procedure of accessing mental lexicon. On one hand,the study attempts to prove memetics to be the theoretical foundation of mental lexicon. Onthe other hand, it intends to investigate whether approaches in the field of memetics couldhelp reconstruct L2mental lexicon.Quantitative researches were employed in the present study. Word Association Test andVocabulary Knowledge Scale Test are adopted. SPSS16.0software is used to analyze theresults of three tests in different periods about one group. Mean and significant difference arethe main aspects to compare changes of each period and the range of the changes.The primary result of the present study is to prove memetics to be the theoreticalfoundation for reconstructing L2mental lexicon. The training in one and a half months notonly helps students of English major learn vocabulary effectively, but also prompt thereconstruction of L2mental lexixon in order to increase comprehensive ability of language.The theoretical value of the present study lies in the newinsight into both memetics andpsycholinguistics as well as the theoretical and practical significance for L2vocabularyteaching. |
