Watercolor painting, which is a form of painting using water and colorcomprehensively, is given unique artistic charm by painter. The uniqueness ofstill-life painting is depicting stationary objects and refracting fluent emotion.In still-life painting, the Painter not only pursue artistic language extremely,but also appear artistic accomplishment perfectly. It is from but beyond life.Once Lao Zi said, the highest good is like water, water benefits all thingsgenerously without striving with them. As it exists in the form of water,Watercolor painting has tranquil, elegant and quiet artistic spirit because of itsinfiltration, fresh and smooth language style. It creates motion in static bymerging soft water and quiet things.As analyzing features of stillness and softness is the entry point of thisarticle, I make a thorough inquiry in Chinese still-life watercolor painting’sartistic language. Firstly, I clarify common features between stillness andsoftness by analyzing merge in the concept and artistic language. Secondly, Ianalyze how reflect stillness and softness in Chinese still-life watercolorpainting’s artistic expression. Thirdly, I combine my understanding of artisticconcepts in stillness and softness, and then integrate expressive technique intocreation. At last, I summarize the meaning in my creation of Chinese still-lifewatercolor painting. I think stillness and softness could explain one kind ofattitude of looking at things and angle of observe things by selecting ordinarythings in life.And then people could search for spiritual home of inner soul.
