Alexandre Vladimirovitch Kojèvnikov is one of the outstandingresearchers of Hegelianism in France. His creative interpretation of Hegel’sself-consciousness has caught the extensive attention of the scholars at homeand abroad. The basic question discussed in this paper is that Kojève used theconcept of desire to explain the expansion process of consciousness. Guidedby this core question, this paper also solves some other questions, such as:who is Kojève, the background of Kojève’s philosophy, the complete pictureof Kojève’s philosophy, the desire theory of the Kojève’s philosophy, and itsevaluation and influence. Among these questions, the desire theory ofKojève’s philosophy is the focus of discussion. From the following aspectsthis paper discusses the above-mentioned question: the concept of desire,self-desire and desire of self, the end of history under double perspectives ofdeath and labor, and the universal and homogeneous state after the end ofhistory. The paper tries to build a complete system for the desire theory ofKojève’s philosophy. And paper holds a view that it is reasonable that Kojèveinterprets Hegel’s “consciousness” to “human” and based on thiscomprehension the dialectic interpretation is unparalleled to the developmentprocess of human and state. And the above just is his main idealisticcontribution. The essay also points out that it is not realistic that just relyingon the self-reflection of reason to walk away from modernity dilemma and toeliminate the damage from reason concept deviation; it also needs thesupplement of the concept of desire. And the desire concept of Kojevephilosophy just fills the gaps in this regard for theoretical cycle. In the end, this paper put forward that the desire concept of Kojève’s philosophy issignificant to China’s modernization construction, and calls for much more concern to the desire concept of Kojève’s philosophy from Chinesetheoretical circle.
