Learning Chinese character via mobile apps is the technological trend meeting the multi needs of the new era. This technology features high sharing teaching resource, individualized learning, interactive learning and can use at any time. Teaching Chinese characters has been regarded as a tool accompanying language study, and it didn’t get its deserved attention. The positioning of the Chinese characters teaching which completely ignores the role of written communication is not reasonable. According to this situation, if we can develop and design an app can be used solely or according to a curriculum would have more advantages than the textbooks. The main contents include the following five chapters:Chapter one mainly introduces the significance, the research status, theory and methods. The research situation includes the multimedia part and methodology of teaching Chinese characters.Chapter two conducts a survey on the applied condition and type. It includes apps for international learner and local learner.Chapter three and for constitute the major part of this study. Chapter three evaluates all the apps in a formal way. Firstly we analyze all the features and the categories of the listed apps. Secondly we assess the apps from both researchers’ and users’sides. Lastly, a brief introduction is drawn to show the advantages of apps for local learner and the strength that we can adopt. Chapter four emphasizes on the importance of the quantity,category and arrangement of Chinese character list.Chapter five summarizes the compulsory component of a qualified app. The ideal model is put forward in two aspects, form and content.
