Study On Application Of Glazing In Modern Chinese Figurative Oil Painting

Glazing is an important part in oil painting technique, which is suitablefor expressing the delicate color relations and the special sense of reality in art, forexample, a girl with fine and fair-complexioned skin, changeable nature lines and deepspace with three dimensions, etc. The new glazing emerged in the early20thcentury.With the increasing innovation and development of new materials, the application ofglazing in oil painting become more and more popular. And the figurative oil paintingbecomes important in the field of modern Chinese oil painting. On one hand, thefigurative oil painting becomes popular in the public due to its unique aesthetic feature,and on the other hand, the unique narrative and expressive features make the figurativepainting vivid and active. Oil painting education in our country’s emphasis on "indirectpainting" system is not enough.Painting technique language should always be one of the subjective paintinglanguages. Glazing is the inheritance and reproduction process of excellent technique aswell as its further innovation and development. The study of the inheritance andrecreation of painting technique language is the only approach to extend the languagecontext of Chinese figurative oil painting. Therefore, the expression of figurative oilpainting has close relation with the flexible application of glazing which is not verypopular contemporarily. But more and more people accept it. The study of thecomprehensive application should be identified as a kind of rational regression and traceback. The application of glazing in modern Chinese figurative oil painting is describedfrom the aspects of historical background and technique characteristics, the creationprocedures and works of modern Chinese figurative oil painter are listed and the advantage and demand of the comprehensive application is interpreted, analyzed anddescribed in this paper.
