As a popular literature type, suspense novel has been in a great demand and listedtop on the hit parade of bestsellers. With the characteristics of intension, excitationand full of suspense, suspense novel attracts large number of supporters and lovers.The Shadow of Your Smile, new book of The queen of suspense Mary Higgins Clark,centered on a great family secret. Whether to expose the secret, people relating to theinterest have different ideas and they have started a contest secretly. As an excitingand thrilling suspense story, the language of original text is plain and understandable,but the religious terms and exquisite descriptions about the psychological activitiesare difficult for translating.Religious culture is an important component in the history of human civilization.Different regions are with different religious beliefs that derivate various religiouscultures. The religious culture in suspense novel strengthens the mystery of the storyand at the same time, it increases the comprehension difficulty. In translation process,the precondition of a sufficient translation is an accurate understanding about theoriginal connotation. On the basis of accurately conveying the connotation ofreligious culture, how to keep the mystery and readability of original text to themaximized degree is a great task for translators.For receiving the same reading experience as the original language readers andguaranteeing the fidelity and readability of the translation text, the translator shouldreview the translation from readers point of view. The thesis aims to summarize thetranslation practice, explore the translation methods of the religious culture insuspense novels and demonstrate them through examples. It is hoped that the thesiscan provide references for future research and practice on the translation of religiousculture.
