| Invitation speech acts is one of the most typical and commonly used speechacts in daily life. Through applying the method of qualitative description andquantitative analysis to describe and analyze the language form of Vietnameseinvitation speech acts based on the speech acts theory, politeness theory as well asthe cultural background of Vietnam, this paper summarizes the expressionstrategies for invitation and responds in Vietnamese language, and studies thepragmatics factors that may affect Vietnamese invitation expression. Generally,this paper is divided into four parts. The introduction part briefly addresses thereason of selecting the subject, objectives and significance of study, paper frameand corpus sources, introduces the theoretical basis and the research status of bothdomestic and abroad. The first chapter describes and analyzes the languageexpression forms of Vietnamese invitation speech acts. The second chaptersummarizes the expression strategies for invitation and responds in Vietnameselanguage. The third chapter studies the pragmatics factors that may impact theVietnamese invitation expression. Finally, the peroration part summarizes theconclusions of this study.Through analyzing the Vietnamese invitation speech acts,this paper has summarized two main Vietnamese invitation expression forms,direct invitation and indirect invitation, of which the former one includingdominant invitation and recessive invitation. With regard to expression strategies,the study has concluded various invitation expression strategies, such as directexpression of invitation intention, inquire the possibility of realizing the invitationand explain the reason of invitation etc. While response strategies can be separatedinto direct and indirect responses. After analyzing the questionnaire survey, it isnoted that social power, social distance and the difficulty degree of invitation targetare the important factors that may affect the Vietnamese invitation expression. Insummary, the study of pragmatics regularity of Vietnamese invitation speech actswill eventually enrich the ontology research of Vietnamese invitation speech acts,and conducive to cross-cultural communication as well as learning and teachingVietnamese as a second language. |
