A Translation Project Report For Chopin: The Man And His Music (Excerpts From Chapter Ⅰ And Ⅱ)

The translating assignment is from a cooperative book translating programme ofwww.yeeyan.org—the translation of Chopin: The Man and His Music. The author completedthe translation of excerpts from the first and second chapter of the book which is about10,000words. In the author’s opinion, the requirements of the consigner should be fulfilled and theauthenticity and literariness of biographies should be considered in order that the readers canexperience the ideas and style of the original text. Taking this into consideration, the authormade sufficient preparations before translating, used various translating techniques accordingto the theory of “Xin, Da, Ya” and diversified means and information during the process, thusfinishing the assignment.In the project report, the background of the programme and the information of the bookare briefly introduced firstly. Secondly, the translating process which includes “before thetranslation”,“during the translation” and “after the translation” is described. Thirdly, thetranslating methods and techniques used in the process are analyzed with examples. Finally,the author expresses the reflection on translation and summarizes the translating practice.
