Fiber art is one of the special contemporary arts. This thesis bases on the research of thehistory and artistic language in contemporary fiber art. Through a multi-level andmulti-dimensional exploration, this thesis gives a profound interpretation on multiplecontexts in contemporary fiber art, clarifying the genealogy of fiber art, and studying onthe artistic features and language, in order to enrich and expand the meaning and artisticvalue of fiber art in contemporary artistic.This thesis divides into three chapters discussing the subject step by step. Firstly, throughresearching and summarizing, it shows a relatively clear definition of fiber art in the fieldof artistic media and its development context. Secondly, with the examples from differentdirections, the thesis analyses the multiple contexts of modern fiber art. Finally, it revealsthat fiber art is an ever developing art form by interpreting its specificity and uniqueness,discussing the perspective of technological development.
