A Practice Report On Chinese Translation Of English Equipment Purchase Contract

English machinery purchase contracts are the legal documents often involvedin business law matters. The vocabulary characteristics of English machinerypurchase contracts are ancient English and legal terms appearing frequently, specialuses of common words, coexistence of both precise language and vague language. Itssyntactic features are fixed sentence structures, passive voice sentences,nominalization of verbs, complex long sentences and juxtaposition of class synonyms.Translating an English machinery purchase contract into Chinese accurately andeffectively requires analysis and summary of its features and appropriate translationstrategies.This thesis is a study on translating the purchase contract of Fushun MiningMachinery Group Co., Ltd. and Voith Paper GmbH. Based on the translationprinciples of business and trade contracts, the translation strategies of vocabulary,sentences and discourse are analyzed, the experience and inspiration of the translatorhave been summarized.
