As an important part of Chinese lexicology, idioms not only represent thelanguage, but also contain Chinese unique ethnic cultural material. That’s why forRussian students, who have different cultural background, it is difficult to understandChinese idioms. At intermediate and advanced levels, students have already masteredcertain grammar points and pronunciation, so their target now is to learn, how to uselanguage to express them and improve their skills of successful communication.This thesis analyzes Russian and Chinese idioms that contain "water" sememe, inboth languages they are used frequently to express different kinds of emotions, and asa result, reflect the state of mind of communicants. This thesis uses the analysis ofcomparison of Chinese and Russian idioms that reflect human emotions, toanalyze the cultural differences between the two countries. The spiritual levelcomparison shows that language differences are only the result of different culturaltraditions in China and Russia. The specific contents are as follows.First, there is the introduction of research motivation and significance, range ofstudy, research methodology, research theory and source of data.Chapter one is the review of previous research findings on Chinese and Russianidioms comparative analysis and researches in the role of Chinese idioms in theprocess of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter describes the Russian and Chinese idiom definition, scopingand features.The third chapter provides the results of comparative analysis of the meaning ofChinese and Russian idioms with "water sememe, those express human emotions. Inthis chapter revealed the similarities and differences between the meanings of Russianand Chinese idioms and simply discusses the causes of the similarities anddifferences.Chapter four describes three main reasons for the formation of the similaritiesand differences between the meaning of Chinese and Russian idioms. Chapter five attempts to use the results of this analysis in teaching Chinese as asecond language.At last, there is a summary of the research results and deficiencies of the thesis.
