The paper studies the modifying compound words existing in the Yue-fu poetrycomposed in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. This article mainly includes fourchapters.Chapter1Introduction mainly introduces the present condition of the research onmodifying compound words existing in the Yue-fu poetry composed in Southern andNorthern Dynasties. The present condition of the research mainly includes two parts: thefirst part is the research on history of Chinese; the second part is the research on certainbooks composed during this time. Then we talk about the meaning of this research. TheSouthern and Northern Dynasties is a special period, the poems in Yue=fu poetry areballads, they can reflect the condition of Chinese at that time.At present,no scholarsever specially do research on these poems. The methods this paper used include statistics,comparison, description combined with explanation, static combined with dynamic.Chapter2introduces the standards to confirm the modifying compound words inYue-fu poetry composed in Southern and Northern Dynasties. First we introduce the wayto judge compound words. We judge them by grammar and vocabulary. Then weintroduce the four standards to confirm the modifying compound words in Yue-fu poetrycomposed in Southern and Northern Dynasties.Chapter3narrate the statistics of the modifying compound words from Yue-fupoetry. According to the statistics, we analyze the general situation of these modifyingcomposed words from semantic structure and syntactic structure. From semanticperspective, we summarize three semantic categories, including entity noun, movementbehavior, characteristics. Then we classify these words further according to their internalrelationship. At last of this chapter, we compare the Northern Dynasty’s modifyingcompound words with the Southern Dynasty’s.Chapter4we analyze the formation reason of these modifying words and introducethe condition of these words in modern times. This chapter incudes two parts. The firstpart analyze the formation reason of these words, including the reason inside and outsidelanguage. The second part introduces the situation of these words in modern times. This includes three kinds of situation: firstly, there are words that no huge changes happenedto them; secondly, some of the words disappear in modern oral Chinese, lastly, themeaning of some words changes in modern times.
