Ancient-costume movies and TV series in China have developed for30years comprehensively from1980’s till now. Reviewing the history, ancient-costume movies and TV series shows distinguished overall features every a decade. As an important element in ancient-costume movies and TV series, ancient costume not only bears the function and task for serving the movies and TV series, but also undertakes the traditional Chinese culture of5000years from another aspect. Since the1980’s and with China’s reform and opening-up, more blending and collisions occurred between Chinese and western cultures.
