A Study On Lin Huiyin’s Music Image In The Small Theater Opera Saying Good-bye To Cambridge Again

In the development of Chinese opera, small theater opera produced new change in artistic structure, value, aesthetic taste, etc. It developed new ideas and created a new form of Chinese opera; it caters to the audience’s aesthetic taste and makes the actor and the audience closer; it shows a classic and elegant style before the audience. Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again is the first small theater opera successfully staged in China. The first part of the thesis summarizes small theater opera and Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again. The second part, through typical arias, analyzes the role of Lin Huiyin and its relationship with the roles of other characters, and studies Lin Huiyin’s music image in the small theater opera Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again. The third part gives a technical analysis to the performance in the aria A Song of Peach Blossom which moulds the music image of the heroine Lin Huiyin; this part tries to appreciate and analyze the emotional experience of characters in the opera performance precisely, deeply and comprehensively; therefore, it vividly depicts Lin Huiyin’s elegant image of beauty, nobility, sense and wisdom.
