Selected English Translation Of Double Flower And The Translation Report

With the increase of comprehensive national power of China and rapid development of communication between eastern and western countries, a growing number of foreigners hope to read more Chinese literary works. Therefore, a large amount of literary works are translated abroad. However, the quality of the literary works will influence the culture communication. Compared with other kind of literary works, Chinese prose translation, although with a long history, is not much-researched. This report discussed how a prose can be translated into English beautifully.This report consists two parts. The first part is the original text and the translated version. The second part is the report of this translation, including introduction and example analysis. Introduction is briefly about the preparations before translating, the style and criteria of prose. Example analysis is the core of this report in which the translation strategies, including addition, omission, conversion and diction as well as some factors we must pay attention to in our translation are discussed. Then it concludes that we must take the cultural background, social background and common sense, etc. into consideration in prose translation, preparation before translation and revision after translation are important as well.
