Multi The Multi-angle Inspection Of Quasi-fixed Phrases "Half X Half Y"

The research of "Half X Half Y" format in the past was used to wholly inspect the format. However, as we found the different nature that embedded in the component of "Half X Half Y" through corpus, the characters of format are presented in syntax and semantics. Thus, the format can be firstly divided into "Half N1Half N2","Half V1Half V2" and "Half A1Half A2" for inspection, in order to have more detailed understanding of the format.The research status of quasi-fixed phrases "Half X Half Y" is introduced in the introduction. Moreover, on this basis, the point of this article is cleared, which is to explore the effects of different embedded components for the format. According to different embedded components, the scope of the study is preliminarily identified for three kinds:"Half N1Half N2","Half V, Half V2" and "Half A1Half A2".In the first, second and third chapter, the format of "Half N1Half N2","Half V1Half V2" and "Half A1Half A2" will be analyzed in the internal structure and structural denotation of format, selection, semantic relationship and sequentiality of embedded components, and the syntactic function, etc. Thus, the suggestion in the introduction will be verified. In other words, because of the different nature of embedded components, so the characteristics in syntax, semantics of "Half X Half Y" format are presented different. In terms of syntax, the three kinds of format have a strong ability in acting as an attribute. Besides, due to the nominal of embedded component of "Half N1Half N1", it can act as an object in the sentence, but can’t act as a complement. According to its verb of embedded component,"Half V1Half V2"can act as a predicate, and an adverbial modifier, but relative weakly acting as a subject and object."Half A1Half A2" has the strongest ability to act as attributive, because of its adjective of embedded component. Taking semantic into consideration, the embedded components of three formats are presented different semantic relationship and different characteristics of their structural denotations.In the fourth chapter, a further inspection of the similarity and difference among the format of "Half N1Half N2","Half V1Half V2" and "Half A1Half A2" is launched with the basis of previous research. The main differences are compared fromstructural denotation, syntactic function of the three kinds of formats. For thesimilarity, the textual function and pragmatics of “Half X Half Y" are investigated.For the textual function, it is mainly examined from the connection between thecontext and format. Moreover, in terms of the pragmatics，the colloquial style,emotional color and its external expression function of the format should be inspected.The theoretical motivation and hierarchy of conceptual integration of "Half XHalf Y" are introduced in the fifth chapter. This format will be divided into threelevels, including low integration, higher integration and the highest integration degree,which trying to use the coagulability of semantics and structure and the idiomaiticdegree of the format as the standard.
