An Investigation Of C-E Translation Of Travelogues On The Basis Of Think-aloud Protocols

With the introduction of Western new ideas and the development of cognitivescience and psychology, Think-A loud Method of foreign countries has been used todescribe and explain thinking activities of translation, which promotes thedevelopment of experimental research about translation process.The thesis employs TAPs as experimental method and travelogues as the sourcetexts. The author recorded and observed the translation process of the participants.The thesis not only lays emphasis on the thinking strategy of the participants in thetranslation process，but also discusses the application of the thinking strategy duringthe participants’ translation process, major problems in that process and researchsignificance by collecting, converting, analyzing the coding data. Besides，the thesiscarries on the comparison and analysis of the participants’ translated texts andthinking process from three dimensions---Translation of travelogues on handlingwords with Chinese characteristics, tour itinerary and scenery description. Throughthese observations and analysis, the author finds that appropirate translation methodsand skills should be adopted to the process of C-E translation on travelogues tocontinuously improve the overall level of the version.This thesis aims to study the translation process and then improve translationskills. Moreover, it also enlightens new hands or novices in translation of traveloguesbased on TAPs and to help them improve their translation.
