| This report is written based on the translation of the first two chapters of novel The Great Gatsby which is one masterpiece of American writer Fitzgerald. In1920s America was shrouded by the sick atmosphere of money chasing and thirsts for higher social position. Against this background, Fitzgerald told readers a sad story of love. The hero Gatsby lived an extremely luxurious life after he took off by bootlegging in order to regain his lover Daisy’s heart. However, in the end it turned out that what Daisy loved was only money and not him at all, which made his dream disillusioned and himself a tragedy.In these two chapters Fitzgerald told the time, place and the background of the story through a large amount of scene descriptions. Also, in the first two chapters, the main characters of the novel appeared one by one and the splendid story was unfolding. Fascinated by the exciting plots and beautiful language of The Great Gatsby, the report writer translated the first two chapters of the novel and then presented the translation report.Firstly, the report writer briefly introduces the project description, process description and structure of the report.
