In this thesis, the author discusses how to perfect a themed traditional ChinesePipa concert by highlighting the two most important parts of a Pipa showcase concert----Pipa Solo and Pipa Ensemble. The classical pieces which feature the two differentstyles are presented and their respective styles are analyzed, with special attentiongiven to emotion-conveying techniques in the traditional forms of Pipa solo and howto work together as a cohesive unit(integrated and harmonious entity) in a modernmusical ensemble specially addressed. Besides, other possibilities that may confront aperformer in a live performance on stage in a showcase concert are also predicted andan elaborate rehearsal and action plan that is based on an overall understanding oftraditional Chinese Pipa performance is designed to ensure a high-qualityperformance.By attending to details and properly arranging the presentation of themusic pieces, the author intends to illustrate the significance of prior planning in thefinal success of the concert. |
