Xue Yijian’s Qin Jue from Tang Dynasty is the earlier written of Guqin musicaesthetics in history. In the article, Xue Yijian proposed several theories, such as“eight positive values”,“seven problems”,“music has sustainment”,“calm”,“inversely proportional to the number and delicate degree” These theoriesepitomizes the Guqin music aesthetics of Tang Dynasty. It was the most importantwork of Guqin music aesthetics. The author Xue Yijian was a famous guqin playerwho was given an official position in Tang Dynasty. He combined the dualcharacteristics of literatus and artist. Because of this, Xue Yijian not only attachedgreat importance to philosophical discourse, but also paid attention to practice,emphasized the techniques of performance. Qin Jue is the article which combinestheory and practice early and properly.This thesis will be used literature research to analyse the Guqin music aestheticsof Xue Yijian’s Qin Jue, exploring the sources, characteristics and value of thetheories. At the same time, comparison research will also be used to reflect on thecontemporary practice of Guqin. The paper will expound the important effects of XueYijian’s Guqin music aesthetics from the perspective of theory and practicecombining.
