With great impact on Chinese people’s lives in all aspects, Taoism is one of nativereligions, which includes traditional Chinese kung fu. As a treasure of traditional Chineseculture, Nei-dan ideology is the core of Taoism, which brings distinctive health ideology andpractice method. And all these ideology and method attract more and more attentions in years.Traditional Chinese kung fu, a precious intangible cultural heritage, acquires favors all overthe world for its special cultural connotation. And its development is an indispensiblereference for Nei-dan Practice of Taoism. Lots of best-known kung fu scrolls of today andpractice methods passed on by verbal instructions are related closely with Nei-dan ideology. For spreading secretly, the rareness and scatterings of related materials bring researches somedifficulties. It is historical reason that also leads to the avoiding of Taoism factors intraditional Chinese kung fu researches. Even though there are still some are remaining, mostof them are quite obscure and always are regarded as the garbages of feudalism. With theopen trend, it is necessary to make a change from the mechanistic approaches to practical, realistic and dialectical approaches in related academic research, when studying Taoismfactors. Through materials collection and field visit, this paper aims to comb and generalizethe present kung fu materials, to mutual corroborate Nei-dan Practice ideology, and then tomake a systematical summary of traditional kung fu and Nei-dan Practice ideology. It is easyto find the relations between Nei-dan practice and traditional kung fu. The former emphasizeson concordance of yin and yang, refining of oneself by removing lust, integration of man andnature and pursuing the realistic and so on, which influence the traditional kung fu to someextent. It is the practice mode starting from the Nei-dan ideology that is "constructing a goodbase and consolidating it, refining oneself from Jing to Qi, and then from Qi to Shen, andfinally from Shen to Xu", which is used for reference by many traditional kung fu groups andbecome the unique way to practice kung fu. It is more important that the relations betweenNei-dan practice and traditional kung fu are mutual instead of one-sided. On the one hand,Nei-dan ideology influence kung fu deeply; on the other hand, abundant practices oftraditional kung fu is a kind of Nei-dan practice. The interaction of Taoism and kung fu really is a special scene of traditional culture: when traditional kung fu acquires great developmentthrough absorbing Taoism, Nei-dan practice regard kung fu as an important carrier for passingon. Kung fu is more a sort of sports than culture; Taoism can be both abstract and specific. Itis the wish for author to make people know Taoism and traditional kung fu better through thispaper, and to develop a new research method of Taoism and traditional kung fu. With the helpof predecessors’ kung fu experiences, it is not only very useful for academic research, but alsovery significant for overall fitness and life-quality promoting, or even for socialist culturaldevelopment.
