A Study On Introduction Of Business English Language Research Article Based On Genre Analysis

Business English has separated from General English so far and ithas been regarded as a mature major in China, which is a sound proof forthe development of this discipline. Recently, business English academicresearch starts to get more and more attention. As we all know, academicgroups depend on the research paper for communication, and theconvention of research paper relies on highly-established practice. Inaddition to academic paper is highly conventional, it belongs to thecertain type of communication event with a specific purpose and followsthe established practice generally. What’s more, the introduction is thefirst step of research paper, and it can be regarded as the most essentialpart in the thesis. As a result, from the perspective of structure,introduction presents recognizable step model.This thesis mainly analyzes the “Move” and “Step” of businessEnglish research paper introduction, and aims at studying the textstructure and generic structure potential of this kind of articles so as tosummarize briefly the language feature of business English researcharticle writing. According to the perspective of Swales, he tended toadopt the move and step as the units to study the introduction of researchpaper, and he built his CARS model; that is: Create A Research Space. The research article is proved to be a specific genre of advanced writing,which reflects on the communicative purpose of building research space.The methodology of English for Special Purpose employs the discourseanalysis on the foundation of move and step, and the most important andworld-famous representatives are Swales and Bhatia in this field. Theymake an analysis in the way of move structure, and take use of academicand professional writings as research objective in order to summarize thekey steps of specific genre, which can provide the advanced writing andacademic English teaching a meaningful framework for reference. Fromthe pointview of ESP, genre can be regarded as an activity; some linguiststhink that genre can be changed with the communicative purpose of paper.This paper is on the basis of genre analysis theory of ESP, and makes adetailed discussion of move-step structure as well as a generic potentialanalysis of the business English language research article introduction inthe way of corpus methodology so that we can predict the overallplanning in the writing of this kind of genre.
