| "Solitary life" was the expression introduced by Husserl in his LogicalInvestigation. It was mentioned in "Expression in solitary life" of8th section in firststudy---"Expression and Meaning" of Logical Investigation (Volume2). Sign isdivided into "Ausdruck" and "Anzeichen"(“express†and “indicative signâ€) in thebeginning of first study.“Express†has meaning and it can intends to something, while“indicative sign†has no meaning but indicative function. In actual communication,“express†also play the role of instruction, it indicate the speaker’s inner experience tolistener. So we can not distinguish the “express†and “indicative sign†evidently. Therefore, Husserl introduced the “solitary life†to indicate their essential difference. In Husserl’s viewpoint, real words were needless in Solitary Life, but imaginativevocabulary, which was non-existent. So in this case “express†was without theindicative function, because indication just exist somewhere between two existence. Thus, in Solitary Life,“express†just has expressive function but no indicativefunction. In this way, we can distinguish the “express†and “indicative sign†evidently. But this issue also brought a lot of controversy. Derrida on this as a breakthrough totry to deconstruct the Hussar’s whole theory. And Wittgenstein was discussing thepossibility of "private language" to criticize "Solitary life". There are also a largenumber of analytic philosophers discuss "Solitary life" theory. In my article will targetto Hussar’s "Solitary life" theory, and discuss three parts: Expression inphenomenological horizon, the characteristics of "Solitary life", and the the influenceof Hussar’s "Solitary life" theory. |
