Temperature is one of the most basic sense perceptions of human beings.Chinese "Leng、 Liang" and Thai "(?)(nǎao)、(?)(yen)"are the fundamentalconcept expressions about low temperature in the Chinese and Thai language. Onconcept of temperature,"Leng" close to "(?)(nǎao)","Liang" close to"(?)(yen)"。In the development of word groups that "Leng" and "Liang" work as ajoint morpheme, many new semantics which used in other meaning areas andcontexts were derived from the original temperature concept in Chinese. It’s thesame for Tha"i (nǎao)、(?)(yen)",but the semantic expansion of word groupsbecame a different situation in both Chinese and Thai vocabulary system. This thesis contrasts the word group of "Leng" with "(?)(nǎao)", as well as"Liang" with "(?)(yen)", on the basis of Chinese and Thai corpora, which takescognitive semantic field as unit for comparison. We find word group of "Leng" hasrich semantic items, covering nearly all the semantic of "(?)(nǎao)"; althoughsemantics of word group of "Liang" are not simple, Thai word group of "(?)(yen)"has a surprise representation. Then, under the decription and comparison ofsemantics, the thesis goes to search for the reason why the specific similarities anddifferences they have in semantics from cognitive, linguistic and cultural factors.Because of difference at the experience cognition, the temperature value of "(?)(yen)" are more close to "Leng" than "Liang".(?)(yen)has the specialmetaphorical mechanism, which related to "steady, slow down", but the mechanism"Leng and Liang" were related with the sense of cold on the psychological. At last, thesis put forward some suggestions on vocabulary teaching in Teaching of Chineseas a Foreign Language for the Chinese learners whose mother tongue is Thai.
