A Study Of Lu Jiuyuan’s Yi-ology And Compare With Cheng Yi’s And Zhu Xi’s Yi-ology

Lu Jiuyuan is the representative of Neo-Confucianism who studies the theory ofXin Xue.He has no specific writings for “The Book of Changes”.His views on “TheBook of Changes” is found in his “miscellany”“quotations” and other relevantwritings.Lu Jiuyuan’s “Xin Xue school” Yi-ology,from his interpretation of “TheBook of Changes”,belongs to philosophical connotation school which is differentfrom “Li Xue school”.However,Cheng Yi uses “Li” to explain “The Book ofChanges”,and opens a system of “Li Xue school” Yi-ology.Zhu Xi also belongs to thesystem.Lu Jiuyuan’s Yi-ology is linked to “Li Xue school”Yi-ology.Lu Jiuyuan’s and Cheng Yi’s Yi-ology links mainly in:First, with regard to therelationship between “image-number” and “philosophical connotation”,they advocatethat “philosophical connotation” before “image-number”.Second,They advocate that“The Book of Changes” comes from anxiety,and the book has made many ways incultivation of virtue to prevent the evil.But their Yi-ology’s difference is the differentstarting points.Lu Jiuyuan’s and Zhu Xi’s Yi-ology links mainly in:First,their Yi-ology belongto “philosophical connotation school”,and they both value the philosophicalconnotation.Second,they have paid attention to “Nine Gua" of “The Book ofChanges”,and warn people to cultivate virtue to prevent the evil.But Lu Jiuyuan’s andZhu Xi’s Yi-ology is different in:First,Zhu Xi thinks there are gradations in “NineGua",but Lu Jiuyuan thinks the sequence of “Nine Gua" containing profoundmeaning.Second,Lu Jiuyuan and Zhu Xi have different views in the characteristic of“The Book of Changes”.Third,with regard to the relationship between“image-number” and “philosophical connotation”,Zhu Xi thinks “image-number”before “philosophical connotation”,but Lu Jiuyuan doesn’t believe it.Fourth,Zhu Xivalues “He Tu” and “Luo Shu”,and Lu Jiuyuan values “Shang Shu”.Fifth,they have aintense debate between “infinite” and “Tai Chi”.
