S/Z is published in accordance with Roland Barthes’ seminar, in which the twoconcepts,“Readability” and “Writability”, are used as a strategy. This paper isstriving for a study on the connotation and the demarcation line of them. Byclarifying the means Barthes used to build a bridge across the two connectedconcepts, this article aims for pointing out the influence exerted by “Readability”and “Writability”, as well as Barthes’ form of reading and writing. More importantly,what can be concluded in this thesis is that Barthes’ superiority in S/Z consisting ofimagination and freedom are beneficial to the improvement and innovation ofliterary theory. |
