As the first high-end summit in China focusing on the development ofinternational cities,2013International Cities Cooperation Forum was held inChangchun city from Sep5th-8thduring the9thNortheast Expo. This report on C-E SIsimulation practice is based on the Forum. In recent years there are many studies onSI but little has been done in SI from Chinese to English. Thus the purpose of thereport is to prove in a tentative attempt the significance of omission, anticipation andinterpretive strategy in C-E SI process through exploring the common causes ofproblems in C-E SI translation. The report consists of five parts. Chapter One mainly describes the preparationwork before SI simulation practice, including the introduction of the background ofthe forum, text and audience analysis. It also tells the implementation of the SIprocess and feedback from the audience. Chapter Two summarizes three commontypes of problems during the SI process including information losses, hesitation, repetition and misinterpretation, and provides case analysis about the reasons behindthem. Chapter Three elaborates on the effectiveness of such strategies as omission, anticipation and interpretation in addressing the common problems and difficulties inC-E SI process. Chapter Four offers some means to improve the quality of C-Esimultaneous interpretation considering the characteristics of Chinese language. Atlast, the author concludes the merits and demerits of the present study. This report is based on the author’s own SI simulation practice and data analysisafterward. The selected materials from the latest event are all in Chinese withurbanization as the common theme, but with different styles. Thus increases thecredibility of the conclusion that omission, anticipation and interpretive strategy arethree effective strategies in SI from Chinese to English.
