The Study On Li Wei Administered The Affairs Of Zhi Li Province When He Was The Viceroy Of Zhi Li

Li Wei was one of the three model governors named by the emperor Yongzheng. He tookthe position of governor of Zhili Province in July,1732and died in office in October1738. LiWei had been in position for five years and eleven months (except for two times leaving hisoffice). Li Wei’s official career lasted from Yong Zheng period to Qian Long period and hadan important and far-reaching influence on the development of Zhili Province. This essayanalyses Li Wei’s thought and governing method through the observation of his activitiesduring his governance. The essay is composed of six main parts except introduction andconclusion. The first part is an introduction to Li Wei’s life. The other five parts summarizewhat measures he took and what jobs he did from following aspects: consolidating officialmanagement, regulating water, managing relief supplies, training armies, strengtheningcultural construction and maintaining social security. By analyzing and researching, duringthe governing period, Li Wei could enrich his thought and promote the stability anddevelopment of Zhili Province according to local conditions. He is diligent, pragmatic,responsible, incorruptible and honest. Li Wei can be called the excellent representative oflocal officials during Yong Zheng and Qian Long periods.
