The viewpoint of modern Chinese vocabulary unit including words and word equivalentshas become the consensus of the academic community, but what the specific unit of wordequivalents includes in academia is still on the explore.This paper investigates what the word entries of The Dictionary of ContemporaryChinese (Fifth Edition) and National Language Committee of the Modern Chinese Corpussub-parts of speech frequency table, and compares the words of the dictionary of ChineseIdioms and the Complete Book of Chinese Idioms and Phrases. It analyzes the properties ofthe items which have multiple characters and finds in modern Chinese vocabulary words andmorphemes except outside also comprises fixed phrases, unset phrases, fixed format as wellas some difficulty in the units of other ingredients. Although the lexical unit classificationwhich is an analysis of words can not completely summarize the modern Chinese vocabularysystem, from these specific words in the study of modern Chinese vocabulary we can roughlyrealize the unit’s existence, evolution and development.Finally, the paper also analyzes the collection and annotation of words in the dictionaryand corpus, and put forward its own proposal in order to make more contribution to theresearch of the equivalents of words classification, dictionary compilation and the Chineseinformation processing efficiency.
